Introduction

The Televoting Service allows subscribers to organize voting and collect information through the phone and to reward some of the callers to encourage people to take part in the voting. The service is intended for interactive television and radio stations.

  • Interactive SMS-TV bypasses the “set-top” box and all communication is bidirectional
  • Allows interactive communication with all broadcasting technologies
  • Installation and launch of SMS services requires minimal infrastructure development
  • Televoting can take place through either of the 2 mechanisms:

    • SMS based Voting
    • IVR based Voting

The following interactive programs can be offered with the Tele-Voting Application in place:

  • Voting/Polling: While viewing live television broadcasts, viewers are able to vote via SMS to influence the outcome of the show (i.e., voting for music videos, participating in reality shows). Additionally, polling can be created to portray viewer opinions (e.g., polling for the best sport event)
  • TV Quizzes: Viewers can participate in quizzes using the cellular phones to answer questions that relate to a specific program. These questions can simulate game shows and can be integrated into any broadcast, such as Shopping and Auctions.
